Kelsey's 21st Birthday!

Kelsey's 21st birthday was on Wednesday but we officially celebrated it last night. Two of her friends came up from Georgia to help us celebrate. I was really nervous about meeting them and partying with them. This was my first girls night out and I'm not really good at making friends. But I didn't even need to worry about anything because those girls were fantastic! They accepted me right away and let me feel like part of their little group. I honestly don't think that I could've had better girls to spend last night with. It was amazing and it's definitely a night that I'll never forget!

Happy birthday, Kelsey! I hope that it was everything that you hoped it would be! Thanks for letting me be a part of it!

Kris' 23rd Birthday!

Today is my husband's 23rd birthday! So far, it's been a wonderful day! We went out to lunch with my friend Kelsey (It's her birthday as well) and tried the new bacon and cheesed stuffed crust from Pizza Hut. Then we went back to the cider mill to get the doughnuts that Kris likes. We decided to splurge a little bit and got some fudge as well. I'm making his favorite dinner tonight, chicken alfredo, and I made him a marshmallow cheesecake for dessert! All in all, it's a very special day and it's all about him!

And I just wanted to say that I can't believe that he's 23 already! We met when he was 18 and it blows my mind that we've known each other for almost 5 years now! Time has just flown by and I honestly couldn't imagine spending my life with anyone else. He's my best friend, my love and my everything.

So happy birthday, honey. I hope that today is as fun for you as it is for me. I love spoiling you! You deserve it! I love you!

Cider Mill

Yesterday, Kris and I went with Tyler and Kelsey down to the local cider mill. Kris and I had never been before but had heard so many wonderful things about it that we couldn't resist trying it out. And it was so worth it! The food was absolutely amazing! The cider doughnuts were honestly the best doughnuts that I've ever eaten! We also picked out some apples and tried the cider. I've never been a fan of cider but the stuff that I tried yesterday changed my mind! It truly was a wonderful morning.

And as a bonus, there was a waterfall behind it!

I can't believe how delicious these were!

Current Happy Thoughts

Today I started thinking about my life and all of the things that make it so wonderful. And I realized that I have a lot to be thankful for. My life isn't perfect by any means but it's definitely one that allows me to wake up every day with a smile. I am grateful for so many things like...

1. My marriage- People thought that I was crazy for getting married young and moving far away from home. In fact, I'm pretty sure that they still do. But I don't care about what anyone else thinks. I'm unbelievably happy that I got married young and that I spend every day with my favorite person in the world.

2. My friends- I've made some new friends that I have a lot in common with. Kris gets along with their husbands and it just feels pretty perfect. It's so nice to have couples friends. We had some of them over last night for dinner. They stayed over until after midnight and we couldn't stop laughing the entire time. That's how you know that you have good friends. I'm definitely very fortunate to have met them.

3. The scenery- I moved 1,400 miles away from home. That definitely caused a big change in scenery. I am no longer living by Florida's sandy beaches. Instead, I'm up in the mountains, surrounded by gorgeous rivers and lakes. It's breathtaking and living up here is a wonderful new experience that I'll never forget. It's definitely been an adventure so far and I can't wait to see where else the adventure takes us. I'm also really excited to see snow!

4. My books- Starting a new life and experiencing new things creates a lot of inspiration. I've been working like crazy on my books and I think that I've done my best work yet. I'm really proud of what I've done and I feel lucky that I live a life that enables me to follow my dreams.

5. Jax- This was a give-in, right? I cannot express the happiness that this little guy has given me since we got him. I'm so glad that we got him and I can't imagine my life without him. All it takes is a smile from him and my day is made. He's so loving and loyal that I can't imagine having a better dog.

In life, it's all about taking time to notice the little things, as well as the big things. I have so much that I'm thankful for and I couldn't imagine my life being any other way. I'm just grateful that I took all of the risks necessary to get here. They definitely paid off. Everything definitely fell into place.

Things That Have Made Me Happy Recently

In life, it's really easy to get overwhelmed with negativity. I've been going through a lot of changes recently and I've really been making an effort to see the positive sides in everything. So I thought that I'd share all the things that have been putting a smile on my face lately.

  • Jax- If I'm ever having a bad day or if I'm just in a bad mood, all I have to do is look at his cute little face and I'm instantly happy. He loves to cuddle with me and those cuddles instantly take all of my sadness away.
  • My book- I've gotten a lot of work done with my book and I think that the story is developing nicely. I think that it'll turn into something that I can really be proud of. Plus, delving into a world that only exists in my imagination is pretty fun.
  • Learning new recipes- Kris and I haven't been living together for very long and before this, I never lived on my own. So I didn't cook very often. Now, I've got a husband to take care of and a lot of the cooking responsibilities fall on me. I was getting tired of eating the limited amount of dishes that I knew how to make over and over, so I learned some new ones and so far, they've been great! Kris and I are loving the new meals and I'm enjoying expanding my food horizons.
  • Rocket Power- At the end of a long, hard day, it's nice to sit back, relax and watch some TV. But what's even better is taking a walk down memory lane. Amazon Prime has Rocket Power and I've been binge-watching ever since I found that out. It was one of my favorite shows as a kid and it's great to relive those times again.
There have been other wonderful things in my life lately but these are ones that stick out to me. I'm glad that I've learned to focus on the positives in life instead of the negatives. Ever since I learned that lesson, I've been much happier.
